Never Meet Your Heroes, Scene #01

Scene opens with political intern Alexa (Sophia Burns) pulling into a mansion. She is a little anxious as they lead her into the living room, where she waits nervously for Eleanore Cadwin (Rachael Cavalli), her political hero, to come down the stairs and beam warmly at her. It is revealed that Eleanore's political campaign is employing Alexa, a bright intern. For a special meeting with her husband Mel (Seth Gamble), she has invited Alexa to her house. Eleanore makes Alexa happy, and she praises Eleanore's political mission as something she genuinely believes in. Because too many women are overlooked in politics, Alexa is determined to do all within her power to assist Eleanore in getting elected. Working on Eleanore's campaign and assisting in changing the lives of all Americans has always been her dream since she began her studies in political science. Eleanore seems to be touched by Alexa's pledge, but she quickly gets to work, explaining that she has chosen Alexa specifically for an incredibly unique assignment. Mel and Eleanore clarify that they want to set up an affair between Mel and another lady in order to dissolve their convenient marriage, which hasn't worked out as planned. Eleanore would utilize this staged controversy for political advantage, winning over female votes nationwide by portraying Eleanore as a "woman striving against adversity. " It is revealed that Eleanore and Mel want HER to be the fall guy for the staged affair when Alexa questions why they are telling her this. Alexa is so angry that she is threatening to leave. Eleanore, however, stops her and persuades her to stay and listen to her. Eleanore gradually persuades Alexa that taking part in this unconventional plan will have a greater impact than her typical internship, explaining how it could be the pivotal moment in her campaign. Eleanore's smooth talk convinces Alexa to go along with the plan. Eleanore uses her cellphone to record her having passionate, animated sex with Mel, creating a video that will 'accidentally' be released to the public.
